For second consecutive year, the Ministry of Economic Development, through the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Design Center (CMD) attend the DMY Festival, be held from 1 to 5 June in Berlin.

The CMD's selection of companies collects the work of local design studios who bet on product development. The 6 companies selected are: Cabina Experience Visual, Studio Lascano, Bondi Group, Indarra, M2 and Nobrand By Image Hb.

The selection of these companies was conducted by an expertise committee composed by Anabella Rondina (Chief Operating Officer of the CMD), Gaston Marando (Chief Operating Officer of Foreign Trade in the City Government of Buenos Aires), ID Hugo Kogan (international consultant specializing in design) and Eduardo Fuhrmann (Representative of DMY for Latin America).

During the festival, the designers may manage business relations, with the aim of coming up to the German and other countries markets, in both product and services.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development of Buenos Aires, the impact of activities related to creative industries in terms of value added and employment in the City is raising in recent years, contributing 8% in 2009 the City's GDP and 9.7% of jobs. Creative Industries are particularly dynamic: they have grown by 68.1% in real terms between 2003 and 2008, at a higher rate than the economy of Buenos Aires which makes 63%. Sector employment grew 87.7%  between 2003 and 2009, a rate that stands against the employment of all economic activities both locally (56.3%) and national (56%).

On the other hand, exports of creative goods and services also show a very positive performance: between 2002 and 2009 multiplied five times (from 437 to 2.55 million dollars),   increasing their share in total export, from 1.5% to 3.5%.

Exhibitors and institutions in over 30 countries participate in the DMY International Design Festival. Finland is the honor guest of the year, with the next World Design Capital, Helsinki 2012.

This is the second consecutive year that the CMD involved design studios in Berlin. In the 2010 edition participated Diseñaveral, Gaby Horvat, No Brand, Azzularq, Planar Project, Remolino and Gruba.
